VH1과 MTV가 선정한 역사상 가장 위대한 앨범 43위에 선정됐다. 6집《Thriller》와 7집 《Bad》의 대성공으로 잭슨은 80년대 가장 많은 음반을 판 80년대 가장 성공한 가수가 된다. 그리고 7집은 모든 노래의 프로듀서에 참여 11곡 중 9개의 곡을 잭슨이 만들었다.
타이틀곡이며 2번째 싱글 Bad는 빌보드 핫 100에서 5주동안 1위를 했고 전 세계 거의 모든 국가에서 1위를 기록한 히트곡이다. 1961년 뮤지컬 West Side Story 영향을 받은 18분짜리 영화형식으로 만들어진 뮤직비디오와 지하철 역 공간을 배경으로하는 뮤직비디오가 제작되었다. 그리고 잭슨이 입었던 의상은 80년대를 대표하는 패션 아이콘이 되기도 했다.
