닥터 드레와 아이스큐브가 참여했던 힙합그룹 N.W.A 의 1988년 발표곡이며 데뷔앨범 첫 싱글곡이다. 2015.9.5. 빌보드핫 38위로 깜짝 진입했다. VH1의 위대한 힙합송100에서 6위를 기록했고, About.com의 랩송100에서는 19위를 기록한 힙합의 명곡이다. 이후 수많은 힙합 뮤지션들이 이곡을 리메이크했고 영화에 삽입되었다. 이곡이 히트를 기록한 이유는 당시 미국 서부 흑인들의 삶을 그대로 랩으로 옯겼기 때문이다. 욕설로 가득차 눈살을 찌푸리게 하지만, 노래를 반복해 듣다보면 어떤 진정성을 느끼게 한다. 이게 바로 힙합이라는 것을 깨닫게 해주는 랩송.
N.W.A는 당시 뉴욕 중심의 힙합 음악의 틀을 깨고 갱그터 랩과 서부 힙합 음악의 가장 중요한 그룹이었고 힙합계의 전설 같은 존재다. 단 2장의 앨범만 발표하고 그룹은 해체되었지만, 이들이 미국 힙합에 끼친 영향은 컸다.
